SC-HART

SC-HART Fact Sheet

The SC Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team (SC-HART) was established in 2009 through a collaborative effort among SC-Task Force 1, under the direction of SC State Fire, the SC Emergency Management Division, the 59th Aviation Troop Command of the SC Army National Guard, and in 2025, the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

The SC Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team comprises trained professional rescuers from SC-Task Force 1, as well as highly trained pilots and crew members from the SC Army National Guard, forming a cohesive unit capable of performing rescues using the UH-60 Black Hawk and LUH-72 Lakota helicopters. SLED provides highly trained pilots and crew members using the Bell 412 helicopter.

The interagency cooperation and the blending of the military and civilian teams are among the primary successes of the SC Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team program.

SC-HART is available 24/7 by request from local emergency management to SCEMD.
