SC State Fire Academy offers Online, Hybrid, and Virtual classes through the Blackboard Learn platform. This platform provides our students with a variety of ways to learn to fit their learning style.
Online classes are self-paced programs like 1427 Hazardous Materials Awareness (HMA) and the 3309: Intro to Tech Rescue where only fundamentals, no skills are taught. These classes have specific start/end dates but can be completed any time in between.
Hybrid classes are mix of online and in person learning. Programs like 1402: Hybrid FFI where the lecture is taught online and skills are taught in-person. These programs have a set schedule with required attendance sessions.
Virtual classes are taught real-time by an instructor, totally online. Great for lecture-based classes or streaming live events. These classes have a set schedule with required attendance sessions.
